Returns are invoice-first: pull up the actual sale, pick what came back. That way the return matches the real line items and prices — no invented amounts.
Process a return
- Open Returns.
- Search the sale by invoice or receipt number.
- Pick the lines being returned and set each quantity.
- Choose the restock location — which shelf the units go back onto.
- Pick the refund method and complete.
What happens
- Stock is restocked at the location you chose.
- A return record is written against the original invoice — returns history shows what came back and when.
- If the original sale was on credit, the return reduces what the customer owes rather than handing back cash.
Refund on a khata sale
For credit sales, the "refund" usually means the balance drops — the customer owes less. Cash refunds against credit sales make the books say you gave cash and reduced debt, which overstates the refund.
Tip: If a product comes back damaged, note it — a restocked-as-sellable item that's actually broken becomes tomorrow's angry return.
