Settings → POS & Day Close holds the counter defaults: whether a shift is mandatory at all, how far credit can stretch, and which accounts day-close cash-outs post to.
Shift mode
Require an open shift is on by default — the POS locks until a cashier opens a shift with an opening float, and day close reconciles the drawer.
Turn it off for khata mode: shops that mostly sell on credit skip the drawer ritual — a zero-float shift opens automatically (carried float is kept), the POS never locks, and day close stays available as an optional daily sales summary.
Credit sales
- Default credit limit — applied to customers without their own limit, and prefilled when adding one.
0means no limit. - When a sale exceeds the limit — Block refuses it at the till; Warn shows a warning the cashier can override. A customer's own limit still wins — see customers & credit.
Cash settlement accounts
At day close, the counted cash splits into "kept as float" and cash-out rows — each posts Dr the chosen account / Cr Cash. Set where each kind goes:
| Cash-out | Default account |
|---|---|
| Banking the day's takings (also where POS bank/card/QR sales land) | 1010 Bank Account |
| Owner takes cash out | 3050 Owner Drawings |
| Small expense paid straight from the till | 6000 Operating Expenses |
Closing float
Suggested closing float is the hint shown at close — the amount normally left in the drawer for the next shift.
Note: Changing an account mapping affects the next day close, not ones already posted — posted shifts keep the entries they wrote.
