Sales commissions

Pick who sold it at the till — their percentage lands on the payroll run automatically.

Commission pays a salesman for the sales they actually closed — a separate idea from who operated the till. Often the same person, not always. It can be a percentage of the sale or a flat amount per item sold.

Set it up

On HR → Employees, for each floor salesman:

  • Tick "Show in sell-screen salesman picker"
  • Pick the commission mode: % of sale or Rs per item
  • Set their commission rate — the default their sales earn

A salesman needs an employee record but not a login — earning commission doesn't require signing in.

At the till

The salesman picker sits on the sell screen of both POS and Smart POS:

  • Tap a name on the chips — or switch to the compact dropdown; the picker style is remembered per device.
  • It defaults to the operator's own employee record when they're also a salesman — right for the common "owner sells" case.
  • Leave it cleared when a sale earns no commission.
  • Users with the hr.manage permission see a small rate field once a salesman is picked — % for percentage salesmen, Rs for per-item ones — enter a rate there to override the employee's default for that sale only.

Every sale stores its salesman — and a sale under their name also marks them present in attendance that day.

Day close

The day-close screen shows Sales by salesman — each person's order count, units and net sales for the shift, with the commission earned (visible to hr.view holders only).

Users with hr.manage can also pay a salesman straight from the drawer: pick them on the Commission payout row and enter the amount. The payout is recorded as an employee advance, so payroll recovers it automatically on the next run — commission is never paid twice.

Where it lands

On each payroll run, a salesman's line shows Net sales (total and order count) and the Commission earned on top of base salary — minus any advances already recovered (including day-close payouts).

No double-counting

Each payroll run claims every sale, return and exchange it pays commission on — a per-document ledger attached to the run:

  • Regenerating a draft run keeps its claims but recomputes them fresh.
  • A sale already claimed by an earlier run is skipped by later runs — even if the dates overlap.
  • An older run's line computed before a sale was claimed the same way also can't re-charge it.

Net effect: commission on a document pays once, no matter how many times runs are generated or re-generated across the period.

Tip: Rates are hidden from anyone without the hr.view permission — cashiers pick a name without seeing what anyone earns.
