How to track installment sales without a register page
A Rs 45,000 phone leaves the shop for Rs 10,000 down and a promise. That promise — six monthly payments — is where mobile shops quietly lose money: missed installments, disputed balances, and a register page that cannot tell you who owes what this week. Here is the system that keeps installments collectible.
Why the register page fails
A notebook line shows the sale and the first payment. What it cannot show: the running balance after four partial payments, which accounts are overdue this week, and what the customer was told last time. When the customer says "maine to de diya tha," the argument is memory versus memory.
One ledger per customer
Treat an installment sale exactly like udhaar — because that is what it is. In SYEZPOS the phone sale records against the customer at the counter, each installment payment posts to the same ledger, and the remaining balance is always one lookup away — for you and for the customer.
The ledger also fixes disputes: every payment is dated and recorded against the sale, so "I already paid" is answered by the record, not by whoever shouts louder.
Aging shows who needs a call this week
The difference between collectible and uncollectible credit is usually time — a balance chased at week one pays; the same balance discovered at month three becomes a write-off. The aging report sorts balances by how overdue they are, so follow-up is a list, not a memory exercise. See how the mobile shop setup handles installments alongside fast accessory sales.
Collect with a message, not a confrontation
A WhatsApp balance statement sent from the customer record is polite, documented and effective — it shows the outstanding amount and recent payments, so the customer pays at the counter or transfers the amount without the awkward "woh actually aapka balance" call. Collection becomes routine instead of a relationship risk.
Rules that keep installments safe
- Record the sale and advance at the counter — never "tonight from memory."
- Keep CNIC and contact details on the customer record for anything above a small amount.
- Set a credit limit per customer so one account cannot snowball.
- Review aging weekly — chase the oldest balances first.
- Send the balance statement on WhatsApp before calling; it does half the work.
Installments are good business when the record is good. The shop that can say "aapka balance 18,500 hai, statement WhatsApp par bhej diya" collects faster and argues less than the shop still flipping register pages.
